Andrew Ellis

Public Catalogue Foundation
Director, The Public Catalogue Foundation (PCF) / Andrew Ellis has been Director of the PCF since its launch in 2003. Over this period he oversaw the project to digitise the UK’s collection of oil paintings. In the period 2008 to 2011 he led the transformation of the PCF from being a publisher of hardcopy catalogues to publishing its work online in collaboration with a number of stakeholders and partners including, in particular, the BBC. More recently he has focused on steering the PCF towards a more broadly-based art digitisation model whilst building on the strong audience participation values that are central to the PCF’s work. In the more distant past he read Economics at Cambridge University before joining the merchant bank Robert Fleming - enticed by its Scottish art collection. He stayed with Flemings - which subsequently became part of JPMorgan Chase - for almost twenty years working in London, Tokyo and other parts of Asia in various equity research and management roles.
