Hanna Kapanen

Hanna Kapanen (b.1976) museum educator devoted to the field of design. Currently she holds a position as Educational Curator of Design Museum in Helsinki. She is especially in charge of the school cooperation but also involved organizing the museum's public events. Hanna Kapanen is interested in developing educational activities in conjunction with museum exhibitions and collections. She sees that museum collections provides a means for understanding the contemporary world and serves as a tool for building the future. Hanna Kapanen graduated with a Master of Arts (MFA) from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2003. Currently she is finishing her studies in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, in Art Education for Professionals majoring in visual culture education. During her working career Hanna Kapanen has participated in realization of several educational projects such as European design education project funded by EU Culture 2000 Programme Fantasy Design – Children and Young People as Designers 2003-2006 and Fantasy Design in Community 2009-2011 funded by EU Culture Programme. Design Museum has an important role in supporting learning with design and promoting design methods in formal education and informal learning. Design Museum, Helsinki is privately owned museum founded in 1873, with collection of 75 000 objects is offering several possibilities from self-guided group visits and workshops for pupils and students of all age.
