Jacek Smolicki

Jacek Smolicki holds his MFA degrees in Methodology of Design from Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Experience Design from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, and Sound Art at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. Currently as a PhD candidate at Malmö University, he is involved in Living Archives project, researching new ways of working with archival material and practices. In his practical and theoretical work Smolicki focuses on studying the use of new media devices, locative technology and database in archival and documentary practices. In some of his latest projects he has been exploring different ways of archiving and subsequently embedding space-specific memories in the context of public space. For last several years he has been also carrying out a number of ongoing cross-media practices of archiving and documenting 'the self ' in relation to 'the public'. His continuously growing personal database hosts a series of dialectic images, videos, sounds and writings forming an archive aiming to register an attitude of individual towards public space and subsequently the impact of public space back on the individual.
